Who we are

BuzStars is a business operated by an individual sole proprietor in Michigan, United States. We provide website design, hosting and maintenance, and managed Google review-request and reputation-monitoring services to local businesses. This policy explains how we handle information on buzstars.com and in providing those services. You can reach us at hello@buzstars.com.

Information we collect

From website visitors we collect the details you submit through our free preview request form — name, business name, business type, current website, city or service area, the service you're interested in, phone number and email address.

We do not use analytics, advertising cookies or other tracking tools on this website. Our hosting provider automatically processes standard technical data, such as IP address and browser type, as needed to deliver and secure the site. If we add analytics or similar tools in the future, we will update this policy before doing so.

To prepare a website preview and online growth report, we may review publicly available information about your business, such as your existing website and your Google Business Profile, reviews and local search presence.

From client businesses we receive website content (text, images, business details) and process their customers' contact details (such as name, phone number and email) supplied by the client or synced from the client's CRM or booking software, solely to send review requests and follow-ups on the client's behalf.

When someone scans or taps a BuzStars QR/NFC review stand, they are taken directly to the business's review page. We do not currently track or record those scans or taps. If we add scan tracking in the future, we will update this policy first.

How we use information

We use information to respond to preview requests and enquiries, prepare previews and reports, build, host and maintain client websites, send review requests on behalf of our clients, monitor review activity, produce reporting, and improve our services. We do not sell personal information.

Client responsibilities

Clients are responsible for ensuring they have the right to share customer contact details with us and for complying with applicable messaging laws and regulations. We work with clients to review contact lists before outreach begins and use email where SMS is not appropriate.

Messaging and opt-outs

Every SMS we send includes opt-out instructions and every email includes an unsubscribe option. Opt-out requests are honored promptly and applied across the client account.

Sharing with service providers

We use a small number of service providers to operate, and share information with them only as needed for them to provide their services to us:

Form submissions from this website, such as preview requests, are processed through Formspree.

This website is hosted on Vercel, which processes standard technical data to deliver and secure the site.

Email communications are handled through our business email provider.

When a client's review service is set up, review requests are sent through messaging and email delivery providers.

We do not sell personal information.

Data retention

We keep information only as long as reasonably needed:

Inquiry and contact information, such as preview requests and emails, is kept as long as reasonably needed to respond to you and manage our relationship, generally up to 24 months after our last meaningful interaction.

Billing, tax, accounting, dispute and other legally required business records may be kept for up to 7 years where reasonably necessary.

After a client's service ends, website and project files, including customer contact details the client supplied for review requests, may be kept for up to 30 days so they can be transferred to the client, and are then removed from our active systems. Copies may remain for a limited time in backups, and where we are legally required to keep them.

Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Your choices

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us. Depending on where you live, additional rights may apply.

Third-party platforms

Our services interact with third-party platforms including Google. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by Google, and their handling of information is governed by their own policies.
